Wind Power Workshop

The ECCT's Low Carbon Initiative (LCI), in cooperation with Taiwan International Ports Corporation (TIPC) co-organised a two-day training workshop for wind energy industry. It was the first such event arranged in cooperation with partners in the TIPC, industry associations, developers and suppliers across the wind supply chain to begin the process of recruiting and training experts and technicians for all aspects of wind turbine and infrastructure installation and maintenance, which is a crucial prerequisite for the building of offshore wind farms.

The event began with an opening ceremony where remarks were made by ECCT CEO Freddie Höglund and Jackson Chen, Vice President of the Port of Taichung, TIPC. This was followed by a series of presentations where participants were given an introduction to the wind power industry and job opportunities from the perspectives of the various sectors and major players in both the offshore and onshore wind power industry.

The workshop speakers from ECCT LCI members included: Enercon, Bureau Veritas, DWT of wpd Group, EnBW, German Institute of Taipei, MHI Vestas, NPI, Ørsted, RCG, TIPC, TPC and TÜV Rheinland.

Topics covered in the workshop included an introduction to the wind energy industry, Taiwan's wind power policies, the role of developers and other industry players, as well as a technical introduction to the manufacturing and installation of wind turbines, other wind power equipment, marine vessels and engineering of offshore wind farm construction and operation and maintenance of wind farms and related topics.
