Taichung forum on environment and science

The ECCT's Low Carbon Initiative (LCI) was a co-organiser of the "2022 Europe-Taiwan Forum on Environment and Science: Renewable Energy & Sustainable Transportation 2022" (臺灣歐盟環境與科技論壇:再生能源及永續交通) together with the Taichung City Government, the European Union Centre in Taiwan (EUTW), and National Chung Hsing University (NCHU). The full day event featured a keynote speech by this year's Tang Prize Laureate for Sustainable Development, Dr Jeffrey Sachs, while the morning session featured presentations and a panel discussion with ECCT representatives from Air Liquide and Enercon. The event began with opening remarks by Bruce Linghu, Deputy Mayor of Taichung City (台中市副市長 令狐榮達); ECCT Vice Chairman, Giuseppe Izzo; Aleksandra Kozlowska, Head of Trade Section, European Economic & Trade Office (EETO); Dr Su Hung-dah, Director General of the EUTW (臺灣歐洲聯盟中心主任 蘇宏達) and Dr Chang Chia-Lin, President of International Affairs at NCHU (中興大學國際事務處國際長 張嘉玲).

In the morning session, Erik Mota, COO of Air Liquide Far Eastern gave a presentation on the topic "Hydrogen: Key enabler for low carbon industry & transportation" while Bart Linssen, Managing Director of Enercon Taiwan, gave a presentation on the topic of wind power for sustainable development. In addition, Dr Wu Keng-tung, Professor at NCHU (中興大學森林系副教授 吳耿東) gave a presentation titled "An innovative biomass power system integrated with portable microgrids for rural areas.
