The ECCT held the second in a series of three grand meetings with the National Development Council (NDC) to discuss issues raised in the chamber’s 2019 Position Papers, published in November 2018. The meeting was chaired by NDC Minister Chen Mei-lin. It was also attended by a number of senior government officials including Dr Lee Po-chang, Director-General of the National Health Insurance Administration, Yen Tzung-ta, Deputy Governor of the Central Bank, and officials from the Financial Supervisory Commission, the Ministry of Economic Affairs and the Ministry of Transportation and Communications.  At the meeting, representatives from eight of the ECCT’s industry and support committees held frank and constructive discussions on the government’s official reply to the business issues raised in the papers. The committees represented were Asset Management, Automotive, Banking, Electrical Engineering & Equipment, Healthcare Enhancement, Insurance, Medical Device, Pharmaceutical. At the meeting, government officials present undertook to take action on a number of issues and official announcements to this effect are expected in the near future. A third meeting has been scheduled for 8 May to discuss issues raised by other ECCT committees, namely Agro-Chemical, Better Living, Cosmetics, Education, Human Resources, Retail & Distribution, Supply Chain Management and Travel & Tourism.
