Progress made on 2008-2009 Position Paper issues

Since the publication of the 2008-2009 Position Papers, progress has been made on the following issues:

Automotive

Automotive tests: Much progress has been made over the years to towards adopting European technical and environmental standards for the automotive industry. For example, Taiwan authorities used to require crash tests for all models of vehicles imported, even if those vehicles had previously undergone and passed even more rigorous tests in Europe. Taiwan authorities no longer require crash tests and now accept some European environmental standards and test certificates for certain types of vehicles and components.

Project & Procurement

Government Procurement Agreement: Taiwan’s accession to the Government Procurement Agreement in 2009 came after years of advocacy efforts by the ECCT, particularly its Project & Procurement committee.
