Date: 9 September
Speaker: Erdal Elver / President and CEO, Siemens Ltd., Taiwan

As a technology partner for sustainable cities as well as the founding member of ECCT's Low Carbon Initiative, Siemens Taiwan was invited to join the 2013 APCS as the General Sponsor and to share how Siemens has transformed cities around the world and in Taiwan for the better through smart and green technologies.

President & CEO of Siemens Taiwan Erdal Elver spoke on the panel "Building Livable Cities with Smart and Green Technologies", together with the Mayor of Little Rock City in the USA, Mark Stodola; Director General of Urban Development Bureau of the Taichung City Government, Kuei Hsin Mu; and Chief Digital Officer of Brisbane Australia Kieran O'hea.

As pointed out by Elver, "The success of cities in managing their basic needs will determine their competitiveness. Today's requirements are drastically changing from closed island solutions and single products to cross-linked intelligent infrastructure solutions. This is where Siemens can support cities with solutions in the areas of traffic management, smart grids, rail-bound transit, energy efficient buildings, safety & security and sustainable healthcare." Elver also gave actual examples of how Siemens has helped London, Shanghai and cities in Taiwan to become better through smart and green technologies.
