Accelerating the path to net zero has become not only a commitment from major corporations but also a consensus within the financial industry. BloombergNEF reported that in 2022 alone, global investment in energy transition hit $1.1 trillion, implying a remarkable 31% growth despite economic headwinds. However, the energy transition brings uncertain revenue opportunities for companies, while also subjecting them to relatively predictable – and hard to avoid – risks.

In Taiwan, corporate power purchase agreements (CPPA) are now under the spotlight. In the RE100-LCI 2022 Aggregated PPAs Report, it was noted that demand for renewables is growing due to Taiwan's 2021 regulation that Taiwan's largest 300 electricity consumers (those with contract capacities over 5,000kW) must source 10% of their electricity from renewable energy sources by 2025. This will add approximately 1GW in RE demand. Therefore, critical policy changes must be rolled out in order to keep the energy transition momentum. The lack of green energy is not only an obstacle to corporate sustainability but also a major threat to Taiwan's exports as most overseas corporations and governments have committed to transitioning to green energy.

On 27 September, Taiwan announced the auction rules draft of offshore wind round 3.2, with capacity expected to reach 3.6GW. At this event, key policymakers from the MOEA's Energy Administration 經濟部能源署, and leader experts from BloombergNEF 彭博新能源, CACIB 東方匯理銀行, and GWEC 全球風能理事會 will update the rules and how the government ensures Taiwan's renewable energy supply and fair price CPPA, and how corporates can quantify the risk, policy, and market landscape from both the global and Taiwan perspective.

The "Taiwan Renewable Market and Corporate ESG Transition Risks & Challenges Forum" is organized by BloombergNEF and #ECCT's Low Carbon Initiative (#LCI) in cooperation with the EU Centre in Taiwan (EUTW), free of charge, open to all ECCT LCI members with no any limitation.
