The LCI 2022 Annual Meeting will take place on Wed. 7 December, starting 10:30 AM at Grand Hyatt Taipei. This meeting will hold the LCI 2023 Steering Committee Election, introduce LCI new members, give a summary report of the LCI 2022 activities, and roadmap of the LCI engagements of 2023.
Taiwan has committed to reaching net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 and increased both interim and long-term targets for renewable energy (RE) capacity as part of its roadmap to reach these goals. In addition, a growing number of corporations operating in Taiwan are pledging to derive all of their energy needs from renewable sources. However, the addition of renewable energy capacity in Taiwan is not keeping up with demand, making it difficult even for large corporations to procure enough renewable energy to meet their commitments. At this event, the LCI and the RE100 Climate Group will co-present the findings of the report that will provide an update of the current status of the renewable energy market in Taiwan and summarise some of the most difficult challenges that lie ahead. Also at the event, a copy of the report will be handed to the government, represented by the Vice Premier of Executive Yuan, Shen Jong-Chin, who will also make a speech to introduce Taiwan’s policy of encouraging corporate renewable procurement.
