Company Profile:
National Dong Hwa University (hereinafter referred to as NDHU) was founded in 1994 as the first comprehensive university in eastern Taiwan. Since its inception, the university has not only been deeply dedicated to the cultivation of high-level professional talent for the benefit of the nation and society, but has also been actively striving to raise the academic, cultural, and sustainable development standards in eastern Taiwan in cooperation with local industries by relying on the pure and simple way of life and the unique characteristics of Hualien County.

The NDHU currently comprises 8 colleges: Humanities and Social Sciences, Science and Engineering, Management, Hua-Shih College of Education, the Arts, Indigenous Studies, Environmental Studies and Oceanography, and Huilan with 41 undergraduate programs, 42 independent graduate institutes, and the center for teacher education, making the university brilliant achievements in the areas reputation and campus beautification. On the foundation of the active preservation of natural landscapes and the integration of multiple ethnic groups, NDHU has made a deep commitment to Hualien County as it makes strides toward its development goals in sync with international academic trends. It is also connected to the world through 462 sister universities across the continents with 500 student exchange openings per year. The student body comprises students from diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds from all over Taiwan and various countries, covering America, Europe, Africa, Asia, and Oceania.

In response to the United Nations and Taiwan's Sustainable Development Goals, NDHU has set sustainable development as an educational goal and implemented it in teaching and research, university social responsibility, international connections, and school management, etc., making NDHU a friendly, diverse, inclusive and cyclical institution sustainable campus. In view of the fact that our global village faces worldwide depletion of resources in terms of the environment and society, NDHU has proposed a blueprint for a sustainability vision and development approach, which encompasses the following eight core dimensions: Health & Well-being, Capacity Building, Mobility, Leadership, Technology and Innovation, Resources, Globalization, and Climate Action.

To realize the purpose above, the "NDHU Committee for Sustainable Development, CSD" was established in 2022, and incorporated into the NDHU Student Association, academic and administrative units, hoping that the faculty and students of the university would understand the connotation of the United Nations and Taiwan’s sustainable development goals, NDHU's practical performance, and governance management. To ensure effective communication with stakeholders with genuine concern for the university, we have developed a stakeholder material issue questionnaire; and published an annual Sustainability Report to give NDHU's stakeholders a deeper understanding of material topics and the performance of the university in the field of education and sustainable development and thereby enable them to show concern for these issues.

With the motto, "Liberty, Democracy, Creatively, and Excellence", NDHU persists in its efforts to maximize its social impact through continued implementation of and support for relevant programs, courses, and events, with the ultimate goal of fulfilling its social responsibility and honoring its deep commitment to campus sustainability.
