ECCK's visit to the ECCT

From 19-21 June, staffers from the ECCT's counterpart in South Korea, the European Chamber of Commerce in Korea visited the ECCT. Hyeeun Cho, Assistant Manager for Administration & Membership Management and Hyokyung Suh, Director of Food & Beverage committees/Events held a series of meetings with ECCT staff to exchange information and share best practices on subjects ranging from committees, membership practices and benefits, events, website and magazines and environmental sustainability.

The visit was part of the ECCT regular interaction with regional chambers that are part of the European Business Organization’s World Wide Network (EBO WWN) of around 30 European chambers outside the EU. ECCT CEO Freddie Höglund served as Vice Chairman of the EBO WWN since its formal establishment in 2011 until 2018 in order to help lead and build up the network. Every year, the CEO attends two series of EBO meetings, one in Brussels and the second in the country of an EBO member. Also, every year, the ECCT visits one of its sister European chambers in the region in order to share information and best practices with its counterparts. In 2019 an ECCT delegation visited its counterpart in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. In 2018 the ECCT visited Beijing. In previous years, visits were arranged to Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, Shanghai and South Korea. The main purpose of these visits is to build up competence in the EBOs, especially on how to produce position papers given the fact that the ECCT is the second older European chamber in the world and has been producing Position Papers annually since 1994.

Besides the ECCK visit, in previous years EBO Philippines and EBO Myanmar have sent staff and board members to the ECCT in order to learn from EBO Taiwan. In addition, EBO Moldova and EBO Myanmar are both planning on extending invitations to the ECCT in 2019 for experience sharing.
