Following successful cooperation in 2018 with CPC Taiwan to jointly publish the “Energy Transition for the Next Generation Report”, the LCI is once again partnering with CPC Taiwan on this new report on the subject of Taiwan’s path to net zero emissions by 2050. The report will be released at a Premium Event lunch to be jointly hosted by the ECCT  Low Carbon Initiative (LCI) and CPC Taiwan, which taking place on 12 Sept. at Grand Hyatt Taipei. We have invited the minister of the Ministry of Economic Affairs to attend the launch along with representatives from companies contributing to the report and all other ECCT members.

The ECCT has welcomed Taiwan’s commitment to reach net zero by 2050 both via the ongoing energy transformation, and by developing systematic strategies to reduce emissions in sectors such as manufacturing, transportation, construction, and agriculture. Moreover, ECCT members are actively helping Taiwan to reach its goals through their actions across all industry sectors.

The new report contains several chapters contributed by ECCT LCI members to showcase some of the best global practices and examples to help Taiwan to reach net zero. They include: Air Liquide, Atlas Copco, Bosch, K&L Gates, Merck, Michelin, Ørsted, Standard Chartered Bank, RWE, the Renewables Consulting Group (RCG), Taipower Company, Tonglit Logistics, TotalEnergies, and TÜV Rheinland. Additionally, the German Institute Taipei, French Office in Taipei, and British Office Taipei also contributed to the report with national policies and strategies of reaching net zero targets.

Together with more investments in renewable energy, energy storage, grid infrastructure and building insulation to reduce carbon emissions, the solutions outlined in the report are aimed at helping Taiwan to make the transition to net zero more smoothly and rapidly, especially if done in partnership with ECCT members.

Agenda will be released by mid of July.
