The ECCT's Low Carbon Initiative (LCI) was a supporting organiser of the Smart IOT Taiwan Expo, held in Kaohsiung. Three forums were held on the subjects of Smart Railways, Smart Retail and Logistics and Smart Healthcare during 22-23 August. Each forum was attended by more than 150 participants from government and related companies engaged in business related to the internet of things (IOT).

ECCT Chairman Giuseppe Izzo gave opening remarks and participated in the forum on Smart Retail and Logistics while expert speakers and executives from Thales, Kaohsiung Rapid Transit Corporation, Siemens Mobility, STMicroelectronics, Taiwan International Ports Corporation (TIPC), Signify (Philips Lighting), TÜV Rheinland and Alibaba shared their holistic turnkey solutions for data-driven business taking place across all industry sectors, giving a glimpse into futuristic cities that will exist within our lifetimes.
