2014 ECCT Gala Ball

This year's Gala Ball, held on 4 October and themed "An Evening on Mount Olympus", was inspired by the rich mythical and cultural heritage of Greece. Once again, the event lived up to its reputation as the highlight of Taipei's annual social calendar by providing entertainment fit for Greek Gods.

A number of guests spared no efforts to dress for the occasion. Patrick Ganaye, CEO of Carrefour Taiwan, came dressed as Zeus while his wife dressed as Hera. The spectacular opening show was inspired by the beauty and elegance of Greek gods, Athena and Hercules.

Dinner with a Mediterranean flavour was savoured at leisurely pace, accompanied by a wide selection of fine wine and other beverages. When dinner was over, it was time for dancing to live music from China Rock, a local band with a multi-cultural feel. They rocked the audience with a combination of rock and popular songs from the 1970s, 80s, 90s and today.

Ladies in the mood for pampering were offered the chance to have a free professional make-over, courtesy of Giorgio Armani Cosmetics and professional face designers throughout the evening.
The ball also catered to those with an appetite for gaming. Roulette & blackjack tables were set up for guests to play, although only for chocolate euros. Players that lost their chocolates were able to refund their chocolate bankrolls by buying raffle tickets for the lucky draw.

Thanks to some generous donations, some fabulous lucky draw prizes were given away throughout the evening. ECCT Vice Chairman Godwin Chang and Beverage Alcohol committee Chairman Marcus Clinch proved that they are more than just a bit lucky. After winning major prizes last year, they both won big again this year - international air tickets.

For those more inclined to drinking and socialising, the free flow of champagne and other drinks continued until the early morning.
