LCI meeting with TPC Chairman Yang Wei-Fuu

On 6 Feb. the ECCT LCI led a delegation of 16 members to Taiwan Power Company meeting with TPC Chairman Dr. Yang Wei-Fuu 楊偉甫董事長, Vice President Mr. Chen, Chien-Yih 陳建益副總經理, Chief Engineer Hsiao Sheng-Jen 總工程師蕭勝任, and 6 executives from Dept. of System Operation, Power Distribution, Power Supply, Power Development, System Planning, Renewable Energy, discussing topics of TPC's policy and action plan of 1) grid infrastructure for 2025 and 2030 goals for renewable energy; 2) investment in new power plants after the decommission of the Nuclear power plants; 3) long term grid expansion plan and cost allocation between TPC and developers; 4) adoption of smart meter and digital technologies.

The meeting started with a presentation of TPC's planning for renewable energy interconnection 2025, followed by the four topic discussions. The ECCT CEO Freddie Hoeglund further introduced TAIWAN-EUROPE Wind Industry Summit targeting on supply chain building and talent training, taking place on 15 March in Taichung, featuring expert speakers from EU DG ENERGY, wind farm developers and turbine manufacturers who are to showcase Taiwan's Asia wind hub potential and foster localization in Taiwan by working with Europe. Chairman Yang and all TPC executives are cordially invited to the grand event.

At the end of the meeting, Chairman Yang consented to contribute two articles from TPC to the LCI's "The Energy for the Next Generation Report" to add more insights and perspective of Taiwan's new energy development.
