ECCT members and guests are kindly invited to attend a Wine Tasting Dinner at Winona Wine Restaurant, featuring wines from 3 climatic regions in France.
Terroir is how a particular region's climate, soil, and terrain will affect the taste of wine. To this concept we add the know-how brought by the winemaker, which could be the countless years of tradition making wine or new techniques brought by the industry. For this wine and dine event, we will concentrate on the most important aspect of the traits of Terroir: the Climate.
The climate could be the living environment of the vines. It is very different from the soil. While it is easy to find clay and stones everywhere, it is not that easy to get good living conditions. No one has ever seen a vine growing inside a desert, nor a vine growing in the snow, so environmental conditions are key to growing in relation to the soil and the varietal.
Typically, wine regions have two types of climates: cool and warm. However, France offers three different types of climates.
