Amid sustainable growth, financial sector should facilitate substantial economic development, support structural transformation, and enhance industrial evolution. Financial Supervisory Commission encourages financial sector to utilize its professional skills and resources to assist industries in Taiwan for mutual benefits, while ensuring risk management. With financing, investment, and fundraising policies and measures, FSC can increase industrial researches, transformations, and innovations, and introduce startups to accessible resources for their ideas. In his presentation our guest speaker will explain how the FSC connects the financial sector with industrial needs, enables FinTech innovations, encourages cross-border cooperation, and empowers local economy for all.
About the speaker
Chairman, Financial Supervisory Commission
Mr. Wellington Koo is currently the Chairman of the Financial Supervisory Commission (FSC). The FSC is the sole regulator for maintaining financial stability, promoting financial institutions’ sound business, and facilitating the development of financial markets. He previously served as the Chairperson of Ill-gotten Party Assets Settlement Committee from 2016 to 2017.
Koo has over 30 years of experience in practicing of law. He previously worked for Formosa Transnational Attorneys at Law and served as legal counsel or attorney for many prominent activists and politicians. He was elected as the President of Taipei Bar Association during 2003 to 2005 and the President of Taiwan Bar Association during 2008 to 2009. Koo was also a human rights lawyer who providing legal counsel to victims of human rights violations, and served as the President of Taiwan Association for Human Rights in 2013. In 2016, he was elected as a legislator-at-large representing the Democratic Progressive Party.
Mr. Wellington Koo graduated from National Taiwan University in 1980 and received his Master of Laws (LL.M.) from New York University in 1988.
