And in the first half of 2020\, the coronavirus pandemic has given e-commerce a significant boost\, as more consumers regard shopping online as safer. Kantar Worldpanel estimates that online sales now account for 10.4% of fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) sales and 16.3% of non-food sales in Taiwan. According to the group\, online food sales have lagged behind but are now growing strongly and reached 7.4% of total sales in the first quarter of 2020. \nWhen the pandemic subsides\, e-commerce is expected to continue to rise\, particularly for bulkier\, hard to carry items and lines with an established online track record\, such as health supplements and skin care. But many consumers still enjoy the physical shopping experience\, leading market researchers to predict that there a limit to how much market share e-commerce will eventually capture.
