The ECCT’s Low Carbon Initiative (LCI) together with the Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC) arranged a virtual meeting with senior officials from the Ministry of Transportation and Communications (MOTC) to discuss ongoing developments in Taiwan’s wind energy sector on 29 September. The meeting was opened with remarks by Ho Shu-Ping, Director-General, Department of Navigation and Aviation, MOTC (交通部航政司 何淑萍 司長). This was followed by presentations by ECCT CEO Freddie Höglund and GWEC, CEO, Ben Backwell. This was followed by a Q&A session moderated by Alastair Dutton, Chair of Offshore Taskforce, GWEC. This virtual meeting was attended by delegates of 30 personnel.

In his presentations, MOTC Deputy Director-General Liu gave an introduction to MOTC’s Infrastructure Plan for Offshore. And TIPC Senior Director Tang talked about Port Planning: “How do Taiwan ports prepare to accelerate the development of Offshore Wind Energy sector? ”. In their presentation, GWEC Chair of Offshore Taskforce Alastair Dutton, Vestas Head of Port Contracting & Support Peter Toft Madsen, SGRE Port Operations Manager David Hsiao, and Ørsted Head of Taiwan Governmental & Regulatory Affairs CC Lin introduced industry perspectives of Infrastructure building needs in Round 3.
