Following successful cooperation with CPC Taiwan to jointly publish the “Energy Transition for the Next Generation Report” in 2018, the ECCT Low Carbon Initiative (LCI) is once again partnering with CPC Taiwan and KPMG for their second report on the subject of Taiwan’s path to net zero emissions by 2050, to be released on 12 Sept., the first day of the EU's Climate Action Week.  Minister Wang Mei-hua, MOEA Minister is cordially invited to give a talk at the launch received the report. 

The ECCT has welcomed Taiwan’s commitment to reach net zero by 2050 both via the ongoing energy transformation, and by developing systematic strategies to reduce emissions in sectors such as manufacturing, energy generation, transportation, building and construction, agriculture, and also through green financing schemes.

The new report contains several chapters contributed by the the ECCT members to showcase some of the best global practices and examples to help Taiwan to reach net zero, topics including: 1) net zero by 2050: global roadmap, driving forces, and supporting schemes, 2) challenges and opportunities facing industries going towards low carbon economy, 3) key to net zero: Hydrogen solutions, and 4) future prospect for global 2050.  The report will showcase the global investments in renewable energy, energy storage, grid infrastructure and building insulation to reduce carbon emissions, the solutions outlined in the report are aimed at helping Taiwan to make the transition to net zero more smoothly and rapidly, especially if done in partnership with the ECCT and its members.

Special thanks go to the European Economic and Trade Office (EETO), the German Institute Taipei, French Office in Taipei, Air Liquide, Atlas Copco, Bosch, K&L Gates, Merck, Michelin, Ørsted, Standard Chartered Bank, RWE, the Renewables Consulting Group (RCG), Taipower Company, TCI, Tonglit Logistics, TotalEnergies, and TÜV Rheinland who contributed to the report with national policies and strategies of reaching net zero targets.
