Due to Typhoon Meranti, the ECCT Low Carbon Initiative (LCI) has rescheduled 2016 Wind Power Festival (VIDEO) to Thursday 3rd Nov. at Taichung's Turtle Shell Park, showcasing EU-Taiwan's capabilities in developing renewable energies and smart technologies (100% wind power from 39 turbines in the park supply to industry 4.0 robotics [ABB 艾波比公司] and Thanksgiving turkey BBQ [Taichung Farmers' Association 台中市農會]) and smart E-bus [RAC華德動能 the 1st MIT E-Bus certified by MOTC]).

This Wind Power Festival, supported by Taichung City Government and Turtle Shell Villiage, is a CSR & Education event of the ECCT Low Carbon Initiative (LCI), held near the time of Thanksgiving, is to raise awareness about sustainable environment and to thank the community residents for supporting the adoption of renewable energy solution to protect our mother earth. The highlight of 2016 Wind Power Festival is using 100% wind power supply to:
● Wind Power Robots 風力機器人: ABB's Sketching Robot and Paper-airplane Folding Robot will have fun interactions with the guests by drawing pictures and folding paper planes. The paper in use is PEFC certified by APP.
100% Wind Power Thanksgiving BBQ 風力感恩節火雞BBQ: inviting ECCT LCI members and guests, Taichung City Mayor LIN, 12 local chiefs, residents, and industry leaders from Taichung Technology Park to enjoy a green "zero CO2 emission BBQ."
Wind Power E-bus 風力電動巴士: five E-buses by will transport the VIP guests from Taichung HSR station to the Festival site, and be charged by wind onsite.

Taiwan passed the Greenhouse Reduction and Management Act in July 2015, setting a long-term goal of reducing Taiwan's carbon emission less than half the level of 2005 by 2050. Further in May 2016, Taiwan's new government has committed to increase renewable-based electricity generation to 20% of supply by 2025. To achieve these extremely ambitious goals, Taiwan shall by all means make a real sustainable environment with the cooperation and participation from industries and its people.

The electricity supply of 2016 Wind Power Festival will be 100% from the 39 wind turbines in Taichung's Turtle Shell Park, taking the BBQ to a whole new level. making the event "zero emission." In addition to wind-powered BBQ, onsite displays includes electric vehicles and industry 4.0 robotics, all empowered by wind.
