Members are cordially invited to attend a Premium Event lunch with New Taipei City Deputy Mayor Yeh Hueh-ching and senior government officials from the New Taipei City Government. The event is part of the ECCT's outreach programme as a nation-wide association to establish relations and seek areas of mutual cooperation with municipal governments all across Taiwan.
New Taipei City (or Xinbei) is the largest and most populous city in Taiwan with a population of four million. Strategically located with convenient transport links to Taipei, Taoyuan and the ports of Taipei and Keelung, the city covers a large and varied territory that includes mountains, the Tamsui River and a long stretch of coastline that includes the famous Yehliu and Jiufen scenic areas.
New Taipei boasts a large and diverse workforce and industry supply chains. It is home to over 250,000 companies and 20,000 factories in five industrial parks engaged in information technology (IT), telecommunications, digital content, biotechnology and precision instruments, among other industries. The city is also a haven for many cultural and creative industries, such as pottery in Yingge, drums in Xinzhuang (新莊), the dye industry in Sanxia (三峽), metal processing in Ruifang District (九份) and sky lanterns in Pingxi (平溪). Plans are in the works to build The Taiwan Film Culture Center and The Knowledge Industry Park in Xinzhuang to help foster development of the film industry and to encourage the clustering and expansion of digital content companies.
In terms of infrastructure, construction is already underway on the "3 Rings & 3 Lines"(三環三線) extensions of the metro rail (MRT) system. When fully integrated, the three loop routes will create an extensive, easily accessible commuting system, reducing travel time to less than one hour from anywhere within the greater metropolis. In addition, Zaha Hadid Architects has won a competition to design a 920-metre-long bridge across the mouth of the Tamsui(淡水) River, which will link Tamsui to the east and Bali(八里) and Taipei Port to the west.
This event offers an exceptional exclusive opportunity for ECCT members, especially those in the IT, engineering, automotive, travel & tourism, supply chain, retail and luxury goods sectors to explore business opportunities in New Taipei.
