2018 Wind Industry Summit

The ECCT's Low Carbon Initiative (LCI) together with partners in government and industry arranged the 2018 Taiwan-Europe Wind Industry Summit on Supply Chain Building & Green Talent Training. The full day summit was organised by the ECCT in conjunction with the Taichung City Government, the Taiwan International Ports Corporation (TIPC) and the Metal Industries Research & Development Centre (MIRDC) to discuss the development of a robust wind energy supply chain in Taiwan. The event brought together leaders from central and municipal governments from Taichung and Changhua County with experts from Europe and Taiwan to share ideas and best practices with an audience of over 400 representatives from government, industry and academia. The summit began with opening remarks by the guests of honour, which was followed by a keynote speech by Jan Steinkohl, Policy Officer from the European Commission's Directorate-General for Energy. This was followed by presentations and panel discussions in three sessions on the following topics: 1) Regional supply chain building strategy; 2) Talent training for the wind industry and 3) Taiwan's action plan and roadmap for local content - Manufacturing and standardization for the wind industry.
